Pakistan and Iran Agree to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation at ECO Council of Ministers Meeting
Mashhad, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting on Tuesday with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Aragchi, on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers meeting. Both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral ties and exchanging views on mutual interests, as well as regional and global developments. The leaders underscored the importance of fostering deeper collaboration in areas of trade, energy, connectivity, and regional stability.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar arrived on Monday to participate in the ECO moot, where he is set to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the ECO Charter. He plans to emphasize the potential for enhanced connectivity in the ECO region through the development of road and rail networks, the liberalization of visa regimes, and the simplification of border procedures, aiming for sustainable growth and greater geo-economic integration.
The meeting highlighted the shared vision of Pakistan and Iran to foster regional prosperity and peace, with both sides expressing optimism about future collaborations within the ECO framework.
