Iran and Tajikistan Sign 23 Agreements to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon have emphasized the importance of expanding ties between their nations, citing their shared capacities for achieving this goal.

The two leaders held a joint press conference on Thursday in Dushanbe following extensive negotiations earlier in the day. During the visit, the two sides signed 23 agreements to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including mining, pharmaceuticals, industry, transport, and agriculture.

President Pezeshkian expressed optimism that the agreements would strengthen bilateral relations and help both nations achieve their shared aspirations. He noted that discussions also addressed regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan and the Gaza conflict.

President Rahmon highlighted the potential of Iranian port cities such as Chabahar and Bandar Abbas to enhance cooperation in transport and logistics, underlining their strategic importance in fostering connectivity.

During his visit, President Pezeshkian received an honorary professorship and a plaque of honor from the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University. In his speech at the university, he reiterated Iran’s stance against war and violence, emphasizing the country’s peaceful intentions and lack of hostility toward any nation.

The Iranian delegation, led by President Pezeshkian, arrived in Dushanbe on Wednesday for the high-level meetings aimed at bolstering bilateral and regional cooperation.
