Tehran, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step toward enhancing bilateral economic relations, Iran and Brunei signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and regulatory exchange. The agreement was formalised during the Iran Expo 2025, signaling a renewed commitment to stronger commercial ties.

The MoU was signed by Samad Hassanzadeh, President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, and Haji Abdul Saman Ahmad, President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam.

Under the five-year agreement, both sides have committed to supporting trade and investment delegations, exchanging market data and regulatory information, and organizing joint exhibitions and trade fairs in their respective countries. A notable feature of the agreement is the proposed establishment of a joint chamber of commerce, aimed at institutionalizing cooperation and facilitating structured economic engagement.

During their meeting, the chamber presidents emphasized the need to harness each country’s natural resources and cultural heritage to create new economic opportunities. They also discussed potential collaboration in cultural and educational exchanges, highlighting the broader scope of the partnership beyond trade.

The MoU reflects a mutual interest in diversifying economic relations and demonstrates the shared vision of Iran and Brunei to deepen strategic partnerships through sustained dialogue and joint initiatives.
