Erdogan Welcomes Trump's Remarks on Israel-Iran Conflict, Urges Immediate Action for Peace

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Sunday welcomed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump advocating for an end to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, stressing the urgency of swift diplomatic efforts to avert a regional catastrophe.

According to a statement by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate shared on the social media platform X, President Erdoğan and former President Trump held a phone conversation in which they discussed the Israel-Iran conflict, bilateral relations, and broader regional issues.

President Erdoğan reiterated that diplomacy remains the only viable path to resolving tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program and expressed Türkiye’s readiness to support all efforts aimed at de-escalation, including facilitating dialogue between the parties involved.

The Turkish leader warned that Israel’s ongoing attacks on Iran have already resulted in “irreversible economic and civilian damage” on both sides, emphasizing that the continuation of such a path poses a significant threat to regional stability.

In a post on his Truth Social platform earlier on Sunday, Donald Trump stated that “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” adding that numerous calls and meetings were being conducted to pave the way for peace.

The latest round of hostilities began early Friday when Israel launched strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, reportedly killing several high-ranking commanders and scientists. Iran has since responded with retaliatory attacks, raising fears of a broader regional war.

The two leaders also held a separate phone call on Saturday, underlining the urgency of continued diplomatic engagement.
