Azerbaijan to Host Ski Mountaineering World Championships for the First Time in 2027

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan is set to host the Ski Mountaineering World Championships for the first time, following approval by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF). The decision comes in response to a formal request submitted by the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation.

According to the ISMF’s updated competition calendar, the prestigious global event will take place from February 28 to March 7, 2027, at the Shahdag Tourism Center—one of Azerbaijan’s premier winter sports destinations.

The inclusion of Azerbaijan as a host country marks a significant milestone for the nation’s winter sports development and reflects growing international recognition of its capacity to organize major sporting events.

The Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation expressed gratitude to the ISMF for the opportunity and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a successful and world-class championship in Shahdag.
