Indonesia to Send 10,000 Tons of Rice Aid to Palestine Amid Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia will soon dispatch 10,000 tons of rice aid to Palestine to help alleviate the worsening humanitarian and food crisis caused by the ongoing Israeli blockade and aggression, Foreign Minister Sugiono announced on Sunday.

Speaking during a solidarity rally for Palestine held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta, the minister emphasized that the aid represents Indonesia’s concrete support for the Palestinian struggle. “We will also send our food assistance in the form of 10,000 tons of rice to Palestine soon,” Sugiono stated, as quoted in an official written statement.

He affirmed that Indonesia’s solidarity with Palestine is firmly rooted in the country’s constitution and longstanding national commitment to oppose colonialism in all its forms. “This assistance reflects tangible actions from Indonesia to support the Palestinian people—actions that are mandated by the constitution and our national values,” he added.

To date, Indonesia has distributed more than 4,400 tons of humanitarian logistics and allocated hundreds of billions of rupiahs in aid to Gaza. The minister reaffirmed that this support aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s unwavering commitment to prioritize the Palestinian cause as part of his administration’s core agenda.

“President Prabowo has reaffirmed Indonesia’s stance on Palestine at ASEAN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other multilateral forums,” Sugiono noted. “My duty as Foreign Minister is to translate this stance into real, impactful actions.”

In July, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman also confirmed that Indonesia, under President Prabowo’s directive, will provide 10,000 tons of rice assistance to Palestine. The timing and coordination of the shipment will be determined in consultation with the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta, and Indonesia stands ready to dispatch the aid at any moment.

Furthering its commitment, Indonesia has prepared up to 20,000 hectares of agricultural land in South Sumatra and Kalimantan for joint management with Palestinian partners. This initiative aims to support long-term food security for the Palestinian people.

Indonesia’s ongoing support underscores its consistent foreign policy stance in favor of Palestinian independence and self-determination, in line with its rejection of colonialism as enshrined in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution.
