Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Amina Bouayach, President of Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH), has been honored by African media platform Pour Elle in its prestigious 2025 list of “50 Inspiring African Women.” The recognition highlights her lifelong dedication to defending human rights, equality, and social justice across Morocco and beyond.

The 2025 edition of the list features Bouayach alongside nine other African women activists, selected for their exceptional contributions to shaping a more just and inclusive society. The announcement coincides with International African Women’s Day, observed annually to celebrate the achievements and growing influence of women across the continent.

Pour Elle, a platform committed to amplifying women’s and girls’ voices in Africa, recognized outstanding leaders from 20 African countries and diaspora communities under this year’s theme: “African Women Active in Achieving Justice and Reparations for an Inclusive Africa.” The honorees represent various sectors including politics, economics, business, activism, arts, and culture.

Amina Bouayach’s selection is a testament to her significant legacy in advancing human rights at national, regional, and international levels. Throughout her career, she has emerged as one of Africa’s foremost human rights defenders and a vital contributor to the broader African women’s leadership network.

In addition to her latest accolade, Bouayach has received several major recognitions in 2025. In March, she was elected President of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) by unanimous vote—an affirmation of her global leadership and commitment to human dignity and fundamental freedoms.

That same month, she was reappointed by King Mohammed VI as President of Morocco’s CNDH, continuing her leadership since her initial appointment in December 2018. Furthermore, she was awarded the 2025 Mediterranean Foundation Award for her efforts in promoting human rights across the Mediterranean region and beyond.

Bouayach’s inclusion in Pour Elle’s 2025 list reinforces her position as a key figure in African civil society, serving as a powerful role model for future generations of human rights advocates.
