Oman Welcomes UN Adoption of New York Declaration on Palestinian Issue

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) of the New York Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.
In an official statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Oman’s support for international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. The statement urged the UN Security Council to take practical steps to ensure the effective implementation of the declaration.
On Friday, the UNGA adopted the draft resolution endorsing the New York Declaration with 142 votes in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions. The declaration, first circulated during a high-level international conference at the United Nations in late July, outlines a concrete roadmap toward resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict based on the two-state solution.
The draft resolution was jointly introduced by France and Saudi Arabia, co-chairs of the conference, and received broad international backing.
