President Pezeshkian Calls for Muslim Unity, Urges Return to Foundational Religious Principles

Hormuzgan, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday urged greater unity across the Muslim world and a return to original religious principles, saying that the principal problems facing Muslims originate from within the Islamic Ummah itself.

Speaking to political, cultural and social activists in Hormuzgan Province, Pezeshkian stressed that only cohesion, agreement and mutual empathy among Muslim nations could prevent external domination. “The fundamental problem of Muslims begins within the Islamic Ummah itself. If unity, cohesion, agreement, and empathy are formed among Muslims, the enemies will not be able to dominate the Islamic Ummah,” he said.

Pezeshkian sharply criticized what he described as an inadequate response by some governments to violence in the region. He accused the Zionist regime of targeting civilians and lamented that the reactions of many states have been limited to condemnation. “The Zionist regime, with its small population, is killing women and children in front of the eyes of hundreds of millions of Muslims, and the reaction of some governments is, at best, only condemnation. Some even secretly sit next to the same criminals and cheer them on,” he said.

Highlighting the strategic and economic dimensions of international influence, the president warned that external powers exploit regional resources while arming local actors to fuel internal conflicts. “If Muslims were together, such tragedies would not have happened. The enemy takes our oil, gas, and mines, and in return, he gives us weapons and planes to fight each other. The key to using those planes is in his own hands; if he allows it, it will fly, and if he doesn’t, it will be grounded,” Pezeshkian asserted.

Pezeshkian called for renewed commitment to foundational Islamic values as the basis for solidarity and resilience in the face of external pressures, urging leaders and communities to work toward lasting unity across the Muslim world.
