Amir of Qatar to address UNGA today.
London, The Gulf Observer: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani left London yesterday and headed to New York City to participate in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77) at the organisation’s headquarters in the US.
The Amir will deliver a speech at the opening session of the General Assembly today (Tuesday). An official delegation is accompanying the Amir.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, has stressed that participation of H H the Amir in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly reflects the commitment of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and its keenness on achieving the goals of the international organisation.
Speaking to QNA, he said Qatar has long participated in the meetings of the United Nations with the highest levels of representation, which helped demonstrate over the years the role the State plays and the support it provides to the UN. This is in terms of financing, development support or assistance to least developed countries.
