UAE and Kazakhstan Hold Tenth Joint Committee Session in Astana, Strengthening Strategic Partnership

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kazakhstan, and Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, co-chaired the tenth session of the UAE–Kazakhstan Joint Committee in the Kazakh capital, Astana.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of topics of mutual interest, including international cooperation, investment, finance, health, transport services, artificial intelligence, space, and energy. The convening of the committee highlighted the depth of the longstanding partnership and the joint commitment of the two friendly nations to strengthening cooperation across priority sectors within an institutional framework that ensures sustainable and tangible progress.
Both parties praised the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, noting that non-oil trade reached USD 5.6 billion in 2024, underscoring the strength of economic cooperation and the expansion of mutual investments. The UAE delegation also highlighted the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to Astana in May 2025, which reaffirmed the two nations’ commitment to expanding strategic cooperation, exploring new opportunities for investment and innovation, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
In his remarks, Suhail Al Mazrouei emphasised the UAE’s commitment to translating this shared vision into reality by deepening relations with Kazakhstan, in line with the directives of the UAE leadership. He noted that the UAE’s approach is based on sustainable partnership, economic diversification, and promoting shared prosperity for the benefit of both nations.
The session concluded with the signing of the minutes of the tenth Joint Committee meeting, during which both sides reaffirmed their determination to transform joint priorities into practical outcomes under the committee’s framework.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Al Mazrouei chaired a roundtable with Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and Special Envoy of the President of Kazakhstan, attended by representatives of government and private sector entities from both countries. The discussions focused on monitoring the implementation of agreed projects and expanding cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises in vital sectors to boost economic integration.
Al Mazrouei also chaired the sixth session of political consultations between the UAE and Kazakhstan, with the Kazakh delegation led by Yermek Kosherbayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments of mutual concern.
Additionally, the UAE minister held separate meetings with Nurlan Sauranbayev, Minister of Transport, and Yerlan Akinzhenov, Minister of Energy. The discussions explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation in transport, logistics, shipping corridors, and existing and future energy projects, further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
