Turkish Trade Minister to Hold High-Level Economic Talks in Washington to Advance $100 Billion Trade Target

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat will travel to Washington on Friday for a series of high-level meetings aimed at advancing the goal of achieving a $100 billion bilateral trade volume and strengthening economic ties between Türkiye and the United States, media sources reported.
During the visit, Bolat is scheduled to meet U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and senior representatives of major companies affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
According to sources, the discussions will focus on taking concrete steps toward meeting the trade target set by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while reviewing the current roadmap for cooperation across strategic sectors. These include energy, investment, defense industries, and advanced technologies, with both sides expected to evaluate new avenues for collaboration.
The delegation will also discuss the enhanced use and further development of existing mechanisms, including the Türkiye–U.S. Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA), which plays a key role in facilitating trade and economic engagement.
The Turkish Trade Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to establishing balanced and sustainable trade relations with the United States and promoting mutual investment opportunities in line with President Erdoğan’s economic vision.
Bolat’s visit is viewed as an important milestone, underscoring the resilience of Türkiye–U.S. economic ties despite ongoing global trade challenges, and reinforcing the shared determination of both allies to expand future cooperation.
