Kazakhstan, Japan to Sign Over US$3.7 Billion in Commercial Agreements During Tokayev’s Visit

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan and Japan are expected to sign commercial agreements worth more than US$3.7 billion during the official visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Japan, according to media reports citing Assistant to the President and Press Secretary of the President of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Zheldibay.
During the visit, President Tokayev is scheduled to meet in Tokyo with representatives of major Japanese companies. The two sides are set to sign more than 40 documents covering key sectors, including energy, renewable energy, digitalization, mining, and transport.
On the Kazakh side, agreements will be signed by leading national companies, including Samruk-Kazyna, KEGOC, Kazatomprom, Tau-Ken Samruk, Kazpost, and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. Japanese partners are expected to include Marubeni, MUFG Bank, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Energy, Toshiba, JOGMEC, Kansai Electric Power, RIKEN KOGYO, and other major corporations.
In addition to the signing of commercial agreements, President Tokayev is also expected to hold official negotiations and participate in a series of business meetings aimed at further strengthening bilateral economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Japan.
