Lebanon Calls for New Chapter in Relations with Iran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji has called for opening a new page in relations between Lebanon and Iran, emphasizing the need for balanced ties grounded in mutual respect and national sovereignty.
In a message sent in response to a congratulatory note from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) and the arrival of the New Year, Rajji underlined the importance of establishing relations that respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence.
The Lebanese foreign minister stated that peace and prosperity are shared aspirations for all countries in the region, including Lebanon and Iran, noting that regional stability remains a collective necessity.
Rajji expressed Lebanon’s readiness to initiate honest and transparent dialogue with Tehran, aimed at strengthening mutual trust and fostering constructive engagement between the two nations.
He further stressed that bilateral relations should be based on a constructive approach and mutual respect, adding that cooperation must take place exclusively between the two governments and their legitimate institutions. Such a framework, he said, is essential to safeguarding the sovereignty and independence of both states and ensuring the welfare of the Iranian and Lebanese peoples.
