Oman and Austria Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation and Sign Tax Agreement

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, received on Wednesday Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, in an official meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the discussions, both sides explored ways to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and cultural fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, focusing on developing and expanding existing partnerships, promoting trade and investment opportunities, fostering tourism initiatives, and encouraging human and people-to-people communication.
The Omani Foreign Minister highlighted the Sultanate’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Austria in priority areas, while the Austrian Minister commended the current level of bilateral cooperation and expressed her desire to broaden its future horizons.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of Austria on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Financial Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and Capital. The agreement aims to enhance tax cooperation, support economic partnership, and facilitate a mutually beneficial investment environment.
The meeting and signing ceremony were attended by Munthir Mahfoudh Al Manthari, Head of the Europe Department at the Omani Foreign Ministry; Christoph Ceska, Ambassador of Austria to Oman; and several senior officials from both countries.
