Speaker Gafarova Holds Talks with Omani Parliamentary Chief

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, met with Chairman of the State Council of Oman, Sheikh Abdulmalik Al Khalili, during her official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting underscored the strong bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Oman, built on friendship, mutual respect, and understanding. Both sides noted that shared historical, religious, and cultural ties provide extensive opportunities for further cooperation.
The discussion focused on interparliamentary relations, with both parties emphasizing that legislative cooperation significantly contributes to the overall development of bilateral ties. They highlighted the deepening of parliamentary engagement in recent years, citing mutual visits at the speaker level and enhanced collaboration within international organizations as key drivers of this progress.
Chairman Sheikh Abdulmalik Al Khalili expressed confidence that Speaker Gafarova’s first official visit to Oman would give new momentum to bilateral relations. He also noted successful cooperation on international platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Speaker Gafarova highlighted the importance of collaboration within the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and expressed her appreciation for Oman’s active participation in the network.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on additional issues of mutual interest, further reinforcing the strong ties between the two countries.
