ADB to Mobilize $1.1 Billion for Tajikistan Under New 2026–2030 Partnership Strategy

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of the Asian Development Bank Masato Kanda announced plans to mobilize approximately $1.1 billion to support the implementation of the bank’s new Country Partnership Strategy for 2026–2030 in Tajikistan.

The announcement came following talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, according to the Tajik state news agency Khovar.

Kanda said his first visit to Tajikistan marked an important milestone in bilateral cooperation between the country and the Asian Development Bank, describing the meeting with President Rahmon as constructive and focused on priority areas and future prospects for expanding the partnership.

The newly approved strategy, endorsed last week, outlines ADB’s support for key sectors of Tajikistan’s economy. Kanda noted that the bank intends to channel around $1.1 billion toward projects under the initiative over the next five years.

Working closely with the Tajik government, ADB aims to promote sustainable, diversified, and inclusive economic growth, with a strong emphasis on job creation. The strategy prioritizes the development of resilient infrastructure, improvements in economic governance, enhanced competitiveness, and expanded access to quality social services such as education and healthcare.

Kanda also commended Tajikistan’s commitment to advancing private sector development, noting that the bank will continue supporting efforts to strengthen the business environment, encourage innovation, and generate employment opportunities to foster sustainable economic growth and improve living standards.

The Asian Development Bank has partnered with Tajikistan since 1998, supporting a wide range of socioeconomic development initiatives. Kanda reaffirmed that Tajikistan can continue to rely on the bank’s comprehensive support in achieving its long-term development goals.
