Kazakhstan Parliament Ratifies Allied Relations Treaty with Tajikistan

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Deputies of Kazakhstan’s Majilis have ratified the Treaty on Allied Relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, according to media reports.

The document was originally signed in Dushanbe on August 22, 2024, with the aim of providing additional momentum to comprehensive cooperation between the two Central Asian nations.

The treaty outlines measures to strengthen diverse and multifaceted cooperation in political, economic, military, social, scientific, technological, cultural and humanitarian fields.

Under Article 2 of the agreement, both countries commit to refraining from any actions that could undermine the strategic partnership and allied cooperation between the two states.

The document also emphasizes the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation. Article 4 highlights plans to intensify the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups and expand joint work within international parliamentary organizations.

Both sides also consider consultative meetings of Central Asian heads of state as a key mechanism for addressing regional issues and promoting constructive dialogue.

Special attention is given to expanding trade and economic ties by creating favorable conditions for business activities, supporting and protecting investments, and promoting direct contacts between citizens, enterprises and other economic stakeholders.

The treaty further underlines the importance of enhanced cooperation in the rational and mutually beneficial use and protection of water resources, which is seen as essential for sustainable development and ecological stability across Central Asia.
