Saudi Arabia Highlights Women’s Empowerment Achievements at Asian Women’s Forum in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Assistant Speaker of the Saudi Shoura Council Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi has highlighted Saudi Arabia’s experience in advancing women’s empowerment during the second Asian Women’s Forum held in Uzbekistan.
Addressing the forum, she said the major transformations achieved across various sectors in the Kingdom have been driven under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and with the support and follow-up of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with women’s empowerment established as a key pillar of Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Al-Ahmadi noted that Saudi Arabia has implemented extensive legislative and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening women’s rights and expanding their participation in national development. She emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting international dialogue and cooperation on shared challenges, while appreciating the warm hospitality extended to the Saudi delegation, reflecting strong bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
She further underlined that the world, particularly Asia, is facing growing challenges affecting women, stressing the need for enhanced cooperation and exchange of expertise to promote women’s empowerment as a foundation for stable and prosperous societies.
Highlighting reforms under Vision 2030, she said Saudi Arabia has witnessed significant progress in legal and institutional frameworks, contributing to improved global rankings in women’s empowerment and gender equality indicators.
Dr. Al-Ahmadi also pointed to the increasing participation of Saudi women across sectors including technology, science, culture, and sports, noting that Saudi women have also reached space as astronauts, scientists, and researchers.
She recalled the inclusion of women in the Shoura Council in 2013 as a landmark decision, ensuring at least 20 percent representation, which she described as a significant step toward inclusive governance and decision-making.
Concluding her remarks, she said Saudi women have evolved into active partners in national development, moving from empowerment to leadership, while reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting moderation, development, and prosperity. She also expressed hope that the forum would help strengthen international cooperation and generate practical initiatives for regional stability and progress.
