Indonesia, France Reaffirm Support for Two-State Solution and Middle East Stability

Paris, The Gulf Observer: President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia and France share similar views on maintaining stability in the Middle East, emphasizing that a two-state solution remains essential for Palestinian independence and lasting regional peace.
Speaking after bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Thursday, Prabowo highlighted the importance of peace in the Middle East due to its influence on global energy security and international stability.
“Peace in the Middle East is in our shared interest. France has become one of the pioneers encouraging support for the two-state solution and Palestinian independence,” Prabowo said.
He reiterated Indonesia’s longstanding position that sustainable peace in the region cannot be achieved without justice for the Palestinian people and the establishment of a two-state framework.
“Indonesia remains of the view that there can be no peace in the Middle East without the two-state solution and justice for the Palestinian people,” he added.
President Prabowo also stressed that Indonesia and France could play constructive roles amid rising geopolitical tensions and increasing global uncertainty.
He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives and international efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability worldwide.
According to Prabowo, conflict and war no longer provide benefits in an increasingly interconnected world shaped by advances in science, technology and global cooperation.
The Indonesian president welcomed the growing ties between the two countries, describing the relationship as a comprehensive strategic partnership with the potential for broader and more balanced cooperation in the future.
The bilateral meeting also addressed cooperation in defense, clean energy, education, scientific research, and ongoing progress toward the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
