Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The Culture Day of Jaloliddin Balkhi District was celebrated in a festive atmosphere at the Abulqosim Firdavsi Culture and Recreation Park in Dushanbe, showcasing the district’s cultural heritage, agricultural achievements, and ongoing development efforts.
The event commenced with exhibitions of traditional handicrafts, a variety of bread products, and agricultural produce, all attractively displayed throughout the park. Cultural performers from the district’s Department of Culture later entertained visitors with a vibrant concert program.
Jaloliddin Balkhi District, home to more than 210,000 residents, is regarded as one of the country’s key agricultural regions. Local farmers play an important role in strengthening national food security and boosting exports through the efficient use of land and water resources, consistently achieving high agricultural yields.
Officials noted that significant progress has been made in the district’s development ahead of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s State Independence. Numerous facilities of various types have been commissioned through the efforts of local entrepreneurs and residents, contributing to the district’s beautification and socio-economic advancement.
A major landmark in the district is the mausoleum of the renowned Persian poet and scholar Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi (Jaloliddini Balkhi), which was inaugurated in 2022 with the participation of President Emomali Rahmon. Soil from the poet’s principal resting place in Konya was transferred and placed at the mausoleum in accordance with Islamic traditions. The site has since become a destination for admirers of the poet’s literary legacy.
As part of preparations for the 35th Independence anniversary, the district has planned the construction of 340 buildings and facilities across various sectors. In 2025, authorities had targeted the completion of 43 projects; however, 64 facilities were commissioned during the first 11 months of the year, achieving 149 percent of the annual plan.
The event also highlighted advancements in education and healthcare. A total of 129 additional classrooms were constructed in 19 educational institutions with support from local authorities, entrepreneurs, residents, and foreign investment. Furthermore, four rural health centers were opened in the villages of Obshoron, Angurzor, Zarvodi, and Hayoti Nav under the District Socio-Economic Development Program for 2021–2025.
Residents of Jaloliddin Balkhi District reaffirmed their commitment to marking the 35th anniversary of State Independence with further achievements in development, public welfare, and community progress.
