Azerbaijan, World Bank Agree to Continue Cooperation on Road Sector Reforms

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the Board of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA), Vusal Nasirli, held a meeting with a World Bank delegation led by the Bank’s Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Rolande Pryce, to discuss institutional reforms and the development of Azerbaijan’s road sector.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the findings of the World Bank’s institutional assessment of Azerbaijan’s road sector management. Discussions focused on current approaches to the management, maintenance and financing of the country’s road infrastructure, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and sustainability.
Rolande Pryce reaffirmed the World Bank’s readiness to support Azerbaijan through its multiphase pragmatic approach, which includes assistance for institutional reforms as well as road infrastructure development projects.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing partnership and agreed to continue close cooperation to advance reforms and strengthen the country’s transport infrastructure.
