Kansas City, The Gulf Observer: Argentina secured their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Switzerland 3-1 following extra time in a thrilling quarter-final clash in Kansas City.
Argentina took an early lead in the 10th minute through Alexis Mac Allister, but Switzerland fought back with Dan Ndoye scoring the equaliser in the 67th minute. With neither side able to find a decisive goal during regular time, the match ended 1-1 and proceeded to extra time.
Julián Álvarez restored Argentina’s advantage in the 112th minute before Lautaro Martínez sealed the victory with a third goal in the opening minute of the second period of extra time.
The victory completed the semi-final lineup, with defending champions Argentina now set to face England for a place in the FIFA World Cup final.
