Tajikistan, IMF Discuss Expanding Cooperation on Human Capital Development

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation on human capital development, capacity building, and professional training during a meeting between Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda and Takashi Nagaoka, Director of the IMF Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing Tajikistan’s participation in the Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA), which supports the development of highly qualified professionals across the region.

The two sides underscored the importance of the JISPA program in preparing skilled specialists and strengthening the institutional capacity of government agencies, highlighting its role in fostering sustainable economic development.

The meeting also explored opportunities to expand the exchange of expertise and deepen cooperation in training professionals in key areas, including macroeconomic analysis, trade and investment policy, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation and implement joint initiatives aimed at enhancing human resource capacity and supporting Tajikistan’s long-term economic development.
