Princess Lalla Meryem Receives 50 Children from Jerusalem in Rabat
Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco received 50 children from Jerusalem at the Royal Guest Palace in Rabat on Sunday as part of the 17th edition of the summer camps organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.
The initiative is being held under the instructions of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and reflects Morocco’s continued support for the Holy City of Al-Quds and its residents, particularly children and vulnerable groups.
The 2026 summer camp, held under the theme “Manarat Assalam” (Lighthouse of Peace), is taking place from August 12 to 26. It brings together 50 boys and girls from Jerusalem between the ages of 11 and 14, accompanied by five supervisors from the Holy City.
The programme features educational excursions, cultural visits, artistic and sporting competitions, as well as activities conducted jointly with Moroccan children. A summer school session was also held in Skhirate as part of the programme.
During the reception, Princess Lalla Meryem was welcomed by Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, director in charge of managing the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, along with the participating children and their supervisors.
The Princess later posed for a commemorative photograph and presided over a reception hosted by King Mohammed VI in honour of the Jerusalem children. The children presented her with commemorative gifts, while Echarkaoui presented a summary book documenting the 17 editions of the summer camps held since 2008.
According to the agency, the programme has benefited 850 children from various districts of Jerusalem, accompanied by 85 supervisors, providing them opportunities to visit different regions of Morocco and experience the solidarity extended by Moroccans towards the Palestinian people.
The summer camps form part of the broader efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency to support Jerusalem and its residents through social, educational, cultural and humanitarian initiatives.
