Tajik President Receives CIS Interior Ministers, Calls for Stronger Cooperation Against Transnational Crime

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon received the interior ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries at the Palace of the Nation on Thursday.
Welcoming the visiting officials to Tajikistan, President Rahmon wished success to the meeting of the Council of Interior Ministers of the CIS member states.
In his remarks, President Rahmon said that over the years, the Council had established itself as a specialized platform for interstate cooperation in law enforcement and crime prevention.
He emphasized that the Council currently plays an important coordinating role in facilitating joint activities among the interior ministries of member states to ensure public security and strengthen stability in society.
The Tajik president stressed that emerging global threats and challenges require further strengthening of security measures and expansion of international cooperation.
He underlined the importance of enhancing coordination among law enforcement agencies of CIS member states to effectively combat crime, particularly transnational and organized crime.
The fight against drug and arms trafficking, human trafficking and other forms of organized transnational crime was identified as a key area for cooperation among the relevant authorities.
President Rahmon also expressed concern over the rapid growth of cybercrime and the use of new communication technologies and artificial intelligence by criminal groups. He noted that such developments could contribute to the spread of radical ideologies.
In this context, he stressed the need to accelerate information exchange and ensure timely responses to transnational threats.
The meeting also addressed other pressing issues related to cooperation among the interior ministries and relevant law enforcement agencies of the CIS member states.
