Sultan of Oman Confers Highest State Decoration on Kazakh President

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman has conferred the Sultanate’s highest state decoration, the Order of Al Said, on President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, highlighting the close and growing relations between the two countries.
The decoration was presented during Sultan Haitham’s state visit to Kazakhstan, which took place on October 5–6. The exchange of state honours took place at the Independence Palace in Astana.
Earlier, President Tokayev presented Sultan Haitham with Kazakhstan’s highest state decoration, the Order of Altyn Qyran, or Golden Eagle, in recognition of the Sultan’s contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Oman.
The exchange of honours followed high-level talks between the two leaders on the further development of bilateral relations. They discussed expanding cooperation in trade and investment, energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, financial services, tourism, digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
The two leaders also adopted a Joint Statement outlining the future course of Kazakhstan-Oman relations and reaffirming their commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation across various fields.
The joint statement highlighted the strategic importance of strengthening transport and logistics connectivity between Central Asia and the Gulf region. It also underscored the potential for greater cooperation between the Astana International Financial Centre and the Oman International Financial Centre.
The two sides further expressed support for establishing direct and regular air links between Kazakhstan and Oman, describing connectivity as an important factor in promoting business, tourism, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
Sultan Haitham’s visit marked his first state visit to Kazakhstan and was described by the two sides as an important milestone in the development of bilateral relations. The countries are set to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.
