Turkmenistan, Russia Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Avaza, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Avaza National Tourist Zone to discuss bilateral relations and prospects for expanding cooperation between the two countries.

President Putin arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in high-level international events, including the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Caspian Environmental Summit.

Welcoming the Russian president, Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked him for accepting the invitation to attend the international gatherings, emphasising the importance of continued regional cooperation and dialogue.

“We highly value your personal attention to the development of regional cooperation and view the meetings in Avaza as an opportunity for an open exchange of views, the formulation of joint approaches, and the definition of new areas of interaction,” the Turkmen president said.

He expressed confidence that Putin’s visit would contribute to further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Russia.

For his part, President Putin thanked the Turkmen leadership for the invitation and hospitality, highlighting the significance of the international events being held in Avaza. He also conveyed his greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of strengthening political and diplomatic engagement, noting that regular high-level contacts provide opportunities to address key issues on the bilateral agenda and develop mutually beneficial solutions.

Trade and economic cooperation was also highlighted as an important pillar of relations between the two countries, with both sides emphasising the value of continued engagement across areas of shared interest.

The leaders further recognised the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, particularly in education, healthcare, science and culture, as essential components of bilateral ties.

Reaffirming Turkmenistan’s readiness to pursue comprehensive and multifaceted cooperation with Russia, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to develop for the benefit of both nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two presidents exchanged wishes for good health, prosperity and success in their respective state responsibilities, as well as peace, happiness and well-being for the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia.
