Qal’at al-Bahrain Site Museum marks 15th anniversary
Manama, The Gulf Observer: Bahrain Fort site museum (Qal’at al-Bahrain Site Museum) today marks the 15th anniversary of its opening, which falls on February 18.
The iconic Qal’at al-Bahrain, was the first site of the Kingdom of Bahrain to feature on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Authority (BACA) has lined up a rich programme, to highlight the importance of heritage and human history of Bahrain in upgrading its cultural infrastructure.
It praised the support of the Arcapita Group for the establishment of the museum, which is evidence of the interest of all parties in the culture and civilization of the Kingdom of Bahrain
The programme features a guided tour at 9:00 am for the children around the the museum and qala’at al bahrain fort, followed by an workshop on artifacts’ excavation and restoration of antiquities.
A charming evening of music performed by the talented Mohammed Asiri band group, is also scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
The Bahrain Fort site museum, one of the most important cultural institutions in the Kingdom, aims to preserve and display many archaeological finds related to the site “Qal’at al-Bahrain: the capital of Dilmun and its ancient port”.
