Macron tours the sights of Samarkand

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: Upon arrival in Uzbekistan on an official visit, the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took a walk around Samarkand at night.

Presidents visited the Registan architectural ensemble, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The distinguished guest was introduced to the history of the construction of this pearl of oriental architecture, the features of its unique decor, and the significant events and personalities associated with this place.

It is symbolic that the visit of the French leader is taking place in Samarkand and started precisely from Registan. There is a lot of evidence of connections between our people that have existed for a long time.

In particular, Sahibkiran Amir Temur – a great commander and patron of trade and science – greatly influenced the historical changes in Asia and Europe. In the 15th century, a monument to the “Liberator of Europe” was erected in Paris in his honor. Amir Temur and King Charles VI of France exchanged messages. In addition to political issues, much attention was paid to trade and economic relations in the correspondence.

Many scientific and artistic works in France are dedicated to the great Sahibkiran and the Temurids. The French philosopher and writer Voltaire wrote about Mirzo Ulugbek, and the majestic Registan was lovingly described in the novel by the famous writer Jules Verne.

Today, a French delegation visited this square. The grandeur and beauty of the complex in the light of architectural lighting aroused delight and admiration among the guests.

Then, the Presidents visited the “Eternal City” Historical and Ethnographic Park in the “Great Silk Road” International Tourist Center.

The complex concentrates the main symbols of antiquity and reproduces recognizable details of the sights of the historical cities of Uzbekistan. Along with national traditions, the history of international diplomacy is reflected here. In particular, the motifs of the reception ceremony for the ambassadors of Korea, China, India, and other countries, depicted on the palace walls in the Afrasiab settlement, were used. The content and artistic content of the complex made a great impression on the guests.

During the sincere conversation between the leaders, it was noted that Samarkand is rightfully famous as one of the ancient cradles of world civilization, and today, it is becoming an international center for summits and tourism.

The guests were shown the unique artistic, applied, and musical culture of Uzbekistan people.
