Presidents of Uzbekistan and Belarus Affirm Strengthened Cooperation and Set Ambitious Goals
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, addressed the media following the successful conclusion of various high-level meetings aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations.
Expressing satisfaction with the outcomes of the recent meetings, including the Intergovernmental Commission, the Interregional Forum, and the Business Council, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the positive trajectory of Uzbekistan-Belarus relations. The leaders acknowledged qualitative changes in cooperation, characterized by increased contacts at all levels, a surge in trade turnover, collaborative projects, the revival of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and the establishment of direct flights.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the comprehensive nature of the discussions, which covered a wide range of bilateral relations. The leaders identified priorities and outlined targets to further develop the multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
Both Presidents reaffirmed their commitment to deepening dialogue within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
A key focus of the discussions was on boosting trade turnover between the two countries. With the goal of surpassing $1 billion in the coming years, the leaders agreed to establish a joint foreign trade company and implement support mechanisms for trade supplies.
Priority sectors for industrial cooperation were identified, including the agro-industrial complex, electrical and textile industries, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, urban planning, and public utilities.
Significant attention was given to maximizing the potential of interregional contacts, with both Presidents stressing the importance of effective use of opportunities in culture, art, higher and professional education, tourism, youth, and sports.
The leaders outlined specific areas of cooperation in healthcare and announced plans to organize regular medical, educational, and tourism forums to facilitate ongoing exchanges.
Expressing confidence in the strength of the Uzbekistan-Belarus friendship, the Presidents concluded by affirming their commitment to implementing the agreements and signed documents. They believe that these initiatives will further enrich the multifaceted partnership with tangible, practical content, fostering enduring ties between the two nations.
