Erdogan Reaffirms Commitment to Eradicating Terrorism Roots
Elazig, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a meeting held in Türkiye’s Elazig province, reiterated the country’s unwavering determination in the fight against terrorism, asserting that Türkiye will eventually eradicate “the roots” of terrorists.
President Erdogan stated on Wednesday, “We will eventually, but certainly, eradicate the roots of the hired killer hordes acting as the henchmen of imperialists.” He emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to holding accountable those who, influenced by their Western masters, seek to destabilize the region and attempt to divide the nation.
Addressing the actions of those with ambitions on Türkiye’s lands, President Erdogan asserted, “We will continue to do so,” emphasizing that when it comes to the survival of the homeland, the integrity of the state, and the peace and security of the people, Türkiye does not turn a blind eye to any threat.
During a Cabinet meeting in Ankara on Monday, President Erdogan had already signaled Türkiye’s readiness to confront terrorism along its southern borders. He specifically referred to the PKK, a terrorist group based in northern Iraq, and its Syrian offshoot, the YPG/PYD, highlighting Türkiye’s preparedness to address any challenges posed by these entities.
“We’re ready to bring new nightmares to those who think they can bring Türkiye to its knees with a terrorist formation along its southern borders,” Erdogan declared, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Türkiye’s citizens.
The PKK, engaged in a terror campaign against Türkiye for more than 35 years, is designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union. The group has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants, in its prolonged campaign of violence and instability.
