Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Visit China

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to embark on his first official visit to China since assuming office last June. The visit, which comes at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, will take place over three days starting Monday.

During his visit, Fidan is scheduled to meet with several high-ranking Chinese officials, including Vice President Han Zheng and Wang Yi, who visited Turkiye last July. Diplomatic sources have also confirmed that Fidan will meet with Chen Wenqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of its Commission for Political and Legal Affairs.

With the trade volume between Turkiiye and China surpassing $48 billion last year, and China being Turkiye’s largest trade partner in Asia and third-largest globally, economic and commercial ties will be a central focus of Fidan’s visit. Discussions will aim to foster a more balanced and sustainable trade structure and explore opportunities for Chinese investments in Turkiye, particularly in new technology sectors.

Fidan will also engage in talks about harmonizing China’s Belt and Road Initiative with the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor Initiative. These discussions are timely, given the ongoing developments in Ukraine, Gaza, and the Red Sea, which are affecting global supply line security and various transportation projects.

This visit underscores the strategic importance of Turkiye-China relations and aims to enhance cooperation on multiple fronts, including trade, investment, and regional security.
