Turkish First Lady Hosts Ziroat Mirziyoyeva

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan hosted Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, the wife of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on an official visit to Türkiye.

On Thursday, Erdogan and Mirziyoyeva visited the “Heritage from the Roots” exhibition, which features handcrafted products created by the advanced technical school for girls. At the exhibition entrance, they were welcomed with traditional Turkish coffee, a process that piqued Mirziyoyeva’s interest.

During the tour, officials from the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning of the Ministry of National Education briefed the first ladies. After examining the handcrafted items on display, Emine Erdogan presented Mirziyoyeva with handmade products from the school.

Mirziyoyeva participated in the traditional Turkish woodblock printing technique, used for textiles, by rubbing a wooden block to transfer paint onto fabric. She also observed the weaving of Ankara’s “sof” fabric on a loom, which has a geographical indication sign, and showed keen interest in the woven products.

The first ladies also visited the “Fatih Sultan Mehmet Exhibition” at the National Library, located in the Presidential Complex in Ankara. Here, they received a briefing from Prof. Dr. Erhan Afyoncu, Rector of the National Defence University, and posed for a photo in front of the painting “Mehmed the Conqueror’s Entrance to Hagia Sophia”.

Additionally, Emine Erdogan and Mirziyoyeva explored the Uzbek library section in the Cihannuma Hall. Erdogan presented an Uzbek edition of Mevlana’s “Masnavi” to Mirziyoyeva, who reciprocated with Uzbek literary works for the National Library.

“I would like to thank Mrs. Ziroat Mirziyoyeva for the precious works they have gifted to the book treasury of our library. I hope each rare book will be passed on to the future as a sign of our ancient friendship with Uzbekistan,” Erdogan shared on X following the visit.
