Kazakh and Korean Officials Discuss Climate Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The Director for Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Didar Temenov, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea for Climate Change, Kim Hyoeun, according to the Kazakh press service.

The high-level talks centered on bolstering bilateral cooperation in climate change mitigation and advancing green projects. Both parties emphasized the importance of joint efforts within international climate organizations. Notably, they explored potential collaborations within the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

Additionally, Temenov and Hyoeun exchanged views on forestry and water management cooperation. A significant part of their discussion focused on international efforts to save the Aral Sea, a critical environmental issue for Kazakhstan.

During his visit to South Korea, Didar Temenov also participated in a board meeting of the Loss and Damage Fund. He further engaged in a productive meeting with the Deputy Director-General of GGGI, Helena McLeod, to discuss strategic initiatives and future projects.

These discussions mark a significant step forward in the collaborative efforts between Kazakhstan and South Korea to address climate change and promote sustainable development.
