Algeria Leads African Consultations on Peace, Security and Governance
Addis Abbaba, The Gulf Observer: Algeria, in its capacity as Chair of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU PSC) for August, presided over the annual consultative meeting involving the Council, the Sub-Committee of the Permanent Representatives Committee on Human Rights, Democracy and Governance, and the African Governance Architecture–African Peace and Security Architecture (AGA–APSA) Platform.
The meeting forms part of the African Union’s ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and consultations on issues related to peace, security, human rights, democracy and governance across the continent.
Algeria’s leadership of the consultations reflects its role in advancing dialogue and cooperation within the AU Peace and Security Council, particularly on matters concerning the continent’s peace and security architecture.
The consultative framework brings together key African Union mechanisms working in the areas of governance, human rights, peace and security, providing an important platform for enhancing coordination and promoting comprehensive approaches to Africa’s security and governance challenges.
The meeting in Addis Ababa underscores the African Union’s continued emphasis on closer institutional cooperation and regular consultations to support peace, stability and good governance across Africa.
