Ayatollah Khamenei Urges Nationwide Participation in Iran’s Tree Planting Movement

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called on all Iranians to actively participate in the country’s afforestation initiative, emphasizing its environmental and economic benefits. Speaking after planting seedlings on Wednesday to mark National Tree Planting Day, Ayatollah Khamenei described tree planting as a “profitable investment, forward-thinking action, and a means of wealth generation.”

The initiative, launched during the previous government, aims to plant one billion trees over four years. The Leader stressed that the plan is practical and urged government agencies to support its realization. “Planting trees is not just for young people; all citizens, regardless of age, should embrace this important, necessary, and beautiful effort,” he stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the role of forests and green spaces in improving air quality, enhancing natural beauty, and uplifting the human spirit. While calling afforestation a righteous act, he also warned against deforestation and the misuse of agricultural land, stating that cutting down trees is a “harmful and risky action” that must be prevented.

Observed annually on March 5, National Tree Planting Day sees widespread participation from citizens, officials, and government bodies in Iran’s efforts to expand green spaces and combat environmental challenges.
