Azerbaijan and Pakistan Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, during her working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting centered around enhancing bilateral relations and fostering further parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
Both leaders underscored the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, emphasizing their mutual support on both bilateral and international platforms. The two sides noted that the relations between the countries have been steadily advancing across a range of sectors.
Gafarova and Gilani acknowledged the significant role of high-level reciprocal visits and interparliamentary cooperation in advancing the partnership. Gafarova shared with Gilani the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. She highlighted the efforts made to strengthen the institutional capacity of the organization and expressed confidence that the upcoming fourth conference of the Network, scheduled to be held in Tashkent, would provide a platform for important discussions and positive outcomes.
Gilani reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to its relations with Azerbaijan, describing the two nations as “brotherly” and consistently supportive of one another. He emphasized the importance of people-to-people contacts and the need for further enhancing interparliamentary interaction to deepen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
The meeting also covered other topics of mutual interest, marking a significant step toward strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan at both the parliamentary and governmental levels.
