Azerbaijani, Turkmen Foreign Ministers Discuss Caspian Sea Cooperation in Phone Call

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation on Thursday with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, focusing on a range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation, regional security, and joint collaboration in the Caspian Sea, according to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan.
During the discussion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the partnership between Ashgabat and Baku, underpinned by the deep-rooted historical friendship and brotherhood shared by the peoples of the two nations. Ministers Meredov and Bayramov expressed mutual confidence in the steady advancement of interstate dialogue.
Particular attention was given to enhancing political engagement through contacts at the level of heads of state, inter-ministerial consultations, and reciprocal visits. The ministers underscored the significance of maintaining high-level political dialogue as a foundation for expanding cooperation across various sectors.
The conversation also included an exchange of views on current regional developments and avenues for coordination within international organizations. Both ministers emphasized the value of multilateral diplomacy in addressing shared challenges and promoting mutual interests.
Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan formally established diplomatic relations on June 9, 1992. Since then, the two countries have maintained a constructive and steadily developing partnership grounded in mutual respect and common regional interests.
