Baku Hosts Conference on Artificial Intelligence Integration in Agriculture

Baku, The Gulf Observer: A conference themed “Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Agricultural Practices” was held Wednesday in Baku, as part of the 2nd International Agrarian Innovation Forum. The event took place within the framework of the 18th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition — Caspian Agro.
The conference brought together industry leaders, experts, and innovators to discuss the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in modernizing agricultural practices and boosting productivity across Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector.
Speaking at the forum, Anar Jafarov, Director of the Digital Development and Innovation Center at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), announced that starting next year, the format of the Azerbaijan International Agriculture and InterFood Azerbaijan exhibitions will undergo structural changes. He stated that these events will be integrated under the new platform “Baku Agro Week,” which aims to create broader cooperation opportunities for entrepreneurs and agricultural stakeholders.
Ziya Ismayilov, General Manager for Operations at the Azerbaijan Robotics Engineering Academy, highlighted the growing application of domestically developed AI technologies in Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector.
Attilio Somma, Head of Department at TIM International LLC, noted that integrating AI in large-scale projects across Azerbaijani agroparks has the potential to significantly enhance operational efficiency and innovation.
Leyla Hajiyeva, Head of the Innovation and Digital Development Department at “Digital Umbrella” LLC, emphasized the increasing adoption of AI in agriculture globally and locally. She said AI technologies are instrumental in delivering accurate data, forecasts, and insights critical to the sector’s advancement.
Meanwhile, Jamal Hajiyev, representing Sabah.Hub, stressed Azerbaijan’s substantial potential for both agricultural development and the effective implementation of AI technologies.
The conference underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to embracing digital transformation in agriculture, positioning the country to benefit from technological advances aimed at ensuring food security, improving sustainability, and driving economic growth.
