China Reaffirms Readiness to Help Ease Tensions Between India and Pakistan

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China expressed its willingness on Wednesday to work closely with the international community to continue playing a constructive role in easing the current tensions between India and Pakistan, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian.

Responding to questions at a regular press briefing regarding the unfolding situation between the two South Asian nations, Lin reaffirmed Beijing’s position, stating, “China finds India’s military operation early this morning regrettable,” and noted that the Chinese side is deeply concerned about the ongoing situation.

“India and Pakistan are each other’s neighbors, and both are also China’s neighbors,” Lin emphasized. “China opposes all forms of terrorism and urges both sides to act in the larger interest of regional peace and stability.”

He called on both parties to remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from any actions that could further complicate the situation.

Addressing concerns about the safety of Chinese nationals in the affected regions, Lin said that China is closely monitoring developments and has issued safety advisories. “We advise Chinese citizens and institutions in the relevant regions to raise their safety awareness, avoid traveling to areas involved in the conflict, and in case of emergencies, immediately contact Chinese missions for assistance,” he stated.

When asked about China’s potential role in de-escalating tensions, Lin reiterated the country’s principled position. “The international community is following the situation closely. China remains committed to promoting dialogue and maintaining peace and stability in the region,” he said.

He also noted that both India and Pakistan have expressed a desire to avoid escalation. “We hope that India and Pakistan will remain calm, exercise restraint, work in the same direction, and handle differences through dialogue and consultation,” Lin concluded.

The Chinese government has consistently advocated for peaceful resolution of disputes and supports all efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the South Asian region.
