Emirati Women’s Day 2025 Theme Announced Under the Patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “The Mother of the Nation”, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the official theme for Emirati Women’s Day 2025 has been approved as “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years.”
Observed annually on 28th August, this year’s celebration holds special significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the General Women’s Union in 1975. The chosen theme highlights the spirit of community partnership and commemorates five decades of unwavering achievements by Emirati women across all fields.
The announcement aligns with the national declaration by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, designating 2025 as the “Year of Community” under the broader theme “Hand in Hand”. This reflects the leadership’s vision to strengthen social cohesion and reinforce the indispensable role of women in the UAE’s developmental journey.
The theme carries deep national and societal resonance, symbolising the collaborative ethos that underpins the UAE’s pioneering model of women’s empowerment. It underscores the importance of unity and inclusive participation across all segments of society in advancing national goals.
The theme approval forms part of the sustained efforts of the General Women’s Union, guided by the wisdom and leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Since its establishment in 1975, the Union has championed women’s causes, laying the foundation for a robust institutional framework centred on empowerment, identity, solidarity, and community engagement.
Emirati Women’s Day stands as a national tribute to the accomplishments of women in the UAE and serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the shared commitment of both women and men to work in unity. It reflects the leadership’s enduring belief that empowering women is integral to empowering the nation, and that unlocking women’s potential remains a vital driver of sustainable development and national prosperity.
