Funeral Prayers Offered for Martyrdom Victims of Iran’s Late Leader and Family

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Thousands of mourners gathered in the Iranian capital on Sunday to offer funeral prayers for the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and several members of his family who, according to Iranian authorities, were killed in an airstrike during the conflict between Iran and Israel earlier this year.
The funeral prayers were led by Grand Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla.
The prayers were conducted in three stages. The first was offered for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The second was for his daughter, Seyyedeh Boshra Khamenei; his son-in-law, Mesbah al-Hoda Baqeri; and his daughter-in-law, Zahra Haddad Adel. The third prayer was offered for his granddaughter, Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani.
Three of the late leader’s sons—Mostafa, Masoud, and Maysam—stood in the front row of mourners during the prayers, marking their first public appearance since the outbreak of the conflict on February 28.
Senior Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and other state dignitaries, also attended the funeral prayers.
According to Iranian officials, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several members of his family were killed in an airstrike targeting his office and residence in Tehran on the first day of the conflict.
