HCM City Marks Reunification Anniversary with Spectacular Fireworks and Cultural Festivities

HCM City, The Gulf Observer: The skyline of Ho Chi Minh City lit up in a vibrant display of colour on Thursday night as fireworks were launched simultaneously from eight locations across the southern metropolis, marking the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–2026).
The city organised celebrations at three high-altitude and five low-altitude fireworks sites, strategically distributed across the expanded municipality, including areas formerly part of Bình Dương and Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu provinces, enabling large crowds of residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities during the public holiday.
The three high-altitude displays were held at the entrance to the Sài Gòn River Tunnel in An Khánh Ward, the New City Centre in Bình Dương Ward, and Bà Rịa Park Square in Bà Rịa Ward. Meanwhile, five low-altitude shows took place at the Củ Chi Tunnels Historical Relic Site, Đầm Sen Cultural Park, the Saigon Marina IFC Tower area, the Kim Long Villa complex near Rạch Đỉa Bridge, and the Cần Giờ coastal reclamation tourism urban area – Vinhomes Green Paradise.
Each fireworks display lasted approximately 15 minutes, except for the Cần Giờ coastal site, which featured a shorter five-minute show. The events attracted tens of thousands of spectators across multiple venues.
In addition to the fireworks, the April 30–May 1 holiday weekend featured a wide array of cultural and entertainment activities. Highlights included inaugural performances at the Phú Thọ Multi-purpose Circus and Performance Arena, marking its first public opening with a programme of circus arts and traditional water puppetry.
The Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theatre staged a revival of the classic play Khách Sạn Hào Hoa, while a water music show was held at Lý Thái Tổ Park No. 1. Additional programmes were organised at Suối Tiên Cultural Park, the New City Centre Park, Bà Rịa Park Square, and the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, offering diverse cultural experiences for attendees.
The commemorative events underscored the city’s vibrant cultural life and paid tribute to a historic milestone in Vietnam’s national history.
