Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Attend Inauguration of Shukurbeyli Village

Jabrayil, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration ceremony of Shukurbeyli village in the Jabrayil District on May 9.

During the visit, the head of state inaugurated the village’s newly constructed 360-seat secondary school.

Vahid Hajiyev, Special Representative of the President in the Jabrayil District, Gubadli District and Zangilan District, along with Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, briefed the President and the First Lady on reconstruction and development works carried out in the village.

Officials noted that Shukurbeyli is situated approximately 18 kilometers southeast of the district center. The village was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1993 and was liberated by the Azerbaijani Army during the 2020 Patriotic War. President Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation stone for the village in 2023.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev briefed the head of state and the First Lady on the educational facilities established at the new school.

According to the information provided, the school has been equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced educational facilities, including subject classrooms, physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, as well as specialized rooms for informatics, technology and initial military training. The institution also includes a library, assembly hall, gymnasium and canteen.

Sports facilities, including football and basketball courts, have also been built on the school grounds to support students’ physical development and extracurricular activities.

The inauguration forms part of Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction and restoration program in the liberated territories, aimed at rebuilding modern infrastructure and ensuring high-quality living and educational conditions for returning residents.
