Indonesia Extends Invitations to 44 World Leaders for World Water Forum in Bali
Bali, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian government extends invitations to 44 heads of state and government, alongside four heads of international organizations and 168 ministers, to participate in the 10th World Water Forum scheduled to convene in Bali from May 18 to 24, 2024.
Firdaus Ali, Water Resources Expert Staff to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, disclosed that an estimated 50,000 attendees from diverse nations are anticipated to convene at the forum. He emphasized the forum’s significance, comprising 290 sessions dedicated to crucial themes surrounding water, encompassing water security and prosperity, disaster risk reduction, water governance, sustainable financing, and innovation.
Ali emphasized the forum’s pivotal role as a platform for global stakeholders to deliberate and formulate solutions addressing pressing water-related challenges. He emphasized its transformative potential in shaping policies to mitigate water crises, ensuring water serves as a life source rather than a source of calamity.
“The World Water Forum will be a monumental meeting to transform all policies and enthusiasm to jointly face the future by making water a source of life, not a source of disaster,” Ali stated during a press conference.
Indonesia, as the host nation, has undertaken extensive preparations for the event, including kick-off and consultation meetings in February and October 2023, respectively. The country actively engages in international water-related activities, promoting the forum’s objectives globally.
The forum’s overarching theme, “Water for Shared Prosperity,” aligns with international agendas, including the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing equitable and sustainable water management by 2030.
Ali expressed optimism that the forum would yield innovative solutions and commitments crucial for achieving sustainable and equitable water management globally.
