Indonesia Ranks Among ASEAN’s Top Four Food and Beverage Exporters

Indonesia

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia has recorded US$6.25 billion in food and beverage (F&B) exports, placing the country among the top four exporters in the sector within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti said.

Speaking at the Ministry of Trade in Jakarta on Tuesday, Esti said Indonesia’s export performance could grow further as the government continues to encourage domestic food and beverage producers to expand their presence in international markets by making greater use of the country’s global trade networks.

“Our F&B exports currently stand at US$6.25 billion. Compared with other ASEAN countries, we rank fourth,” she said.

Indonesia follows Thailand, which leads the region with approximately US$17 billion in food and beverage exports, followed by Vietnam with US$8.8 billion and Singapore with US$6.5 billion.

Esti highlighted the considerable potential of the global market and reaffirmed the Ministry of Trade’s commitment to assisting export-ready Indonesian businesses in entering overseas markets.

To support exporters, the ministry currently works through its network of Trade Attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPCs) in 33 countries, helping connect Indonesian companies with prospective international buyers.

The deputy minister also pointed to growing opportunities for Indonesian food and beverage products in global markets, particularly in the halal food segment, where demand remains strong in the Middle East and other Muslim-majority markets.

She noted that Indonesian cuisine is gaining wider recognition internationally as Indonesian businesses and restaurants continue to expand abroad, increasing awareness of the country’s food products among foreign consumers.

Esti added that the Indonesian diaspora around the world represents another important market for the country’s food and beverage exports, providing further opportunities for local producers to strengthen their international sales.

The government’s efforts are aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s food and beverage industry and increasing its share of the growing global market for high-quality and halal-certified products.
