Iran and Egypt Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Tensions and Diplomatic Efforts

Diplomatic Efforts

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian and Egyptian foreign ministers have held talks on the latest developments in West Asia, focusing on regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke by telephone on Tuesday evening, during which they reviewed recent regional developments and exchanged views on diplomatic initiatives to ease tensions.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two diplomats have maintained frequent contact in recent weeks as diplomatic efforts continue in parallel with broader regional negotiations involving Iran and other international stakeholders.

The discussions come amid ongoing diplomatic processes aimed at ending hostilities linked to earlier conflict dynamics involving Iran and the United States, as well as regional escalations involving Israel.

According to the statement, the two sides reviewed efforts to consolidate a ceasefire reached on April 8, which had followed weeks of heightened tensions and armed confrontation. Iran has maintained that any long-term settlement should ensure a comprehensive cessation of hostilities across all regional fronts.

Tehran has also emphasized the importance of stabilizing conditions in conflict zones, particularly in Lebanon, where tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah movement have continued since early March.

Both sides underscored the need to sustain diplomatic engagement and support regional stability through dialogue, with the aim of reducing escalation risks and promoting lasting peace in West Asia.
