Iran, Malaysia Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral and Islamic Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to expanding ties with Islamic nations, emphasizing that enhanced cooperation and synergy among Muslim countries can help bridge differences and foster collective prosperity.

Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, President Pezeshkian underscored the necessity of strengthening relations among Islamic nations amid current global challenges. He stressed that greater collaboration between officials and policymakers across the Islamic world would facilitate the resolution of disputes, reduce misunderstandings, and combat poverty and deprivation.

“Iran is ready to develop relations with Islamic countries, including Malaysia, in all fields,” Pezeshkian stated, according to a press release from the Iranian presidency.

The Iranian president also attributed ongoing Israeli aggression in the West Asia region to what he described as “indifference among Muslims,” urging Islamic nations to take a united stance in addressing regional crises.

For his part, Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Hasan reaffirmed that Malaysia and Iran share common positions on key regional and international issues, particularly regarding the Palestinian cause. He condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, labeling them as genocide, and denounced any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land. He specifically criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s reported plan to take over Gaza.

Highlighting Malaysia’s commitment to expanding ties with Iran, the Malaysian diplomat expressed interest in deepening cooperation across multiple sectors, including science and technology, industry, and agriculture.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared vision of Iran and Malaysia in fostering closer diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian collaboration while advocating for stronger unity within the Islamic world.
