Iranian Delegation Meets Lebanese President During Visit for Resistance Leaders' Funeral

Beirut, The Gulf Observer: An Iranian government delegation visiting Lebanon for the funeral of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday to discuss regional developments.

The high-level delegation was led by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, accompanied by Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Abolfazl Amouei, special assistant for international affairs to the Parliament Speaker, and Seyed Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the Iranian Parliament.

Qalibaf and other senior officials arrived in Beirut on Sunday morning to attend the funeral of Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s long-serving leader, and his designated successor, Safieddine, both of whom were assassinated by Israel late last year.

Qalibaf: Nasrallah a Symbol of Resistance

Speaking to reporters before his departure, Qalibaf described the funeral as a turning point for the Resistance Front, the Islamic world, and the Lebanese people.

“During his lifetime, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was a source of pride and dignity for the Islamic world. He was widely recognized as a symbol of fighting against Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza,” Qalibaf said upon arriving in Beirut.

Despite the loss of its resistance leaders, Lebanon remains steadfast, having restored security to its territory following months of Israeli aggression, he added.

The Iranian delegation’s visit underscores Tehran’s continued support for Lebanon and the Resistance Front, as well as the broader implications of the assassinations on regional security and political dynamics.
